Jungle Yard House – Part One
Today I am finally revealing what I’ve been working on all summer! I bought my first project house with the goal of improving my town. You see…there are some homes that I drive by and I die a little inside. They are completely run down and no one is paying attention to them. Cue Minty Fresh Projects! This little gem is my first major project. Here we go…
See what I mean? So much potential! Let’s first address the outside.
- Large pine tree to the left is removed to allow room for a paved driveway
- Front porch is sad!
- Sidewalk is completely crumbled
- New shutters (are those not completely weird!)
- New front door. Not inviting at all!
- Rip out entire backyard
That should do it! Add some landscaping and sod. This place will be making hearts sing in no time!
As I addressed the exterior, I noticed the roof was newer. It is stained from the walnut tree in the side yard, but it is functional and will work with the color I picked for the aluminum siding. The aluminum siding was also in great shape. It just needs some paint. Two of the windows will need to be replaced and the electrical service coming into the house will be updated.
Take a glance at the backyard. It is a really deep lot with a shed but you couldn’t see any of it.
Now…a normal person would probably walk away. Luckily I’m no where close to being normal!
Check out the progress below on the large pine coming down.
That tree was way too large and way too close to the house!
The tree is gone! I feel like the whole house is finally able to breath.
As you can see above, the driveway approach is completely crumbled. When the driveway gets poured, the approach and the sidewalk get some love as well!
