Little Girl’s Bedroom Makeover – Part 1
The quest to makeover my daughter’s room began 3 years ago. How hard can it be to makeover one little girl’s room? Apparently it is like running a marathon. I am really, really, really ready for it to be complete! We are down to me getting my behind in gear and making some curtains, valances and pillows. It can’t be that hard…right?!
Let’s start at the beginning. By me showing you these pictures and walking you through this project, I am then putting a self imposed deadline to wrap this up once and for all! 🙂
This is where we begin. We moved in and I immediately had to color over those walls! I know they were on trend in the past, but I was ready to give this room a fresh start.
I decided to paint the whole room a fun blue color…
But this was a bad idea! So then I called in back up. In comes Tonya Rineer. She gave me this as a plan:
And I set to work. The builtins, ladder and railing were commissioned. The electrician came by and ran the wiring for the new sconces by the builtins. The painter was hired to spray the trim, beams and builtins. I knew I could tackle painting the walls myself.
How cool is that little cubby? It was just dead space and now its a sweet little reading spot! The view from up there is ridiculous since it overlooks the wall of windows. Super sweet!
Here I am in the middle of painting the walls a pale yellow. Builtins are installed and painted. Chandelier is installed and painted. That was a Pottery Barn Outlet find. I did a random stop “just to see” and found it on a day that lighting was extra, super duper on sale. I spent less on this guy than I would have on my cheap, backup chandelier which I didn’t even like. This one was perfect for the room, but it was black. No problem! I just had my painter spray it with trim paint while he was in there creating a paint cloud!
I’ll be back next week to reveal my DIY upholstered headboard!
So that’s it! Love it? Leave a comment. Hate it? See if you can do better in your little girl’s room! 😉
